How it works

One run, three steps.

1

Set the clock

15, 30, 60 or 120 seconds, or any length from 10 seconds up to 10 minutes.

2

Type against the timer

The timer waits for your first key. A live counter shows WPM and accuracy, or hide it to focus.

3

Beat your number

Net and gross WPM, accuracy and errors appear the moment time is up, next to your personal best.

Features

Made for chasing a number.

Live speed counter

WPM and accuracy update as you type. Switch the readout off if it distracts you.

Fair scoring

Five characters per word, checked word by word, so a typo or extra space never wrecks the rest of the run.

Records and percentile

Personal best, a 10-test average and an estimate of how you compare with typical typists.

Daily challenge and streaks

A new target each day based on your own best, plus a streak for consecutive days and WPM achievements.

Share your score

Send a clean score card to friends straight from the result.

Real keyboards welcome

Bluetooth and USB keyboards work in portrait or landscape, and plugging one in mid-run keeps the test going.

Privacy

Your scores never leave your device.

There is no account to create. Results, records and pasted texts are stored only on your device. The internet is used for ads, Google Play purchases and anonymous crash and usage statistics. Read the privacy policy.

FAQ

Fair questions.

What is the difference between net and gross WPM?

Gross WPM counts everything you typed, using five characters as one word. Net WPM counts only correctly typed words, so the gap shows how much mistakes cost you.

Can I compare my score with computer typing tests?

Yes. Key Speed uses the standard five-characters-per-word rule, the same convention most typing tests use.

Does it work with a physical keyboard?

Yes. Bluetooth and USB keyboards are supported, and connecting one or rotating the device mid-test does not lose your run.

Will an ad cover my score?

No. Ads never appear on the typing screen or the result screen.

What is free and what is Premium?

Every test length and mode, all six languages, the 10-minute exam, charts, daily challenges, streaks, achievements and share cards are free, with a 7-day history and up to 3 saved texts. Premium removes ads and adds unlimited history with CSV export, unlimited saved texts and custom exam settings.

Which permissions does the app need?

Only internet access (for ads, Google Play purchases and anonymous crash and usage statistics) and vibration (for optional haptic feedback on mistakes). It does not use the Accessibility API, overlays, contacts, storage or location.
